Red Bull KTM Factory Racing has confirmed that Alex Marquez, a former Moto3/Moto2 world champion and Grand Prix winner across all three classes, will join the squad on a multi-year deal beginning in 2027. The 2025 MotoGP runner-up brings six premier-class seasons and 13 years of world championship experience to the Austrian manufacturer’s new technical era. Marquez boasts 16 career victories from 56 podiums, including his first GP win aboard a KTM RC4 in Moto3 back in 2013. He added three victories in 2025 — at Jerez, Catalunya, and Malaysia — and another win at Jerez in 2026. His speed, maturity, and development acumen are expected to be pivotal as KTM readies the RC16 for the 850cc formula.
Pit Beirer, KTM Motorsports Director: “We are extremely proud and happy to have secured an exceptional talent like Alex Marquez — the 2025 World Championship runner-up — for our project. Alex brings not only outstanding skill and race intelligence but also determination and a winning mindset that perfectly matches our DNA. Together we share a clear objective: to take the KTM RC16 to the next level and fight at the very front of MotoGP.”
In a parallel move, Italian Grand Prix winner Fabio Di Giannantonio has also penned a multi-year contract to ride the works RC16 from 2027 onward. ‘Diggia’ is one of the few current riders with victories in Moto3, Moto2, and MotoGP. After five seasons in the premier class, he sits inside the top three of the 2026 standings. The 27-year-old Roman debuted full-time in 2016, finished as Moto3 runner-up in 2018, and claimed a Moto2 victory in his third intermediate season. He broke through for his maiden MotoGP podium in Australia 2023 and took a memorable first win in Qatar later that year. Through ten rounds of 2026, he has collected three podiums — including a victory — plus four Sprint podiums, keeping him in title contention.
Pit Beirer, KTM Motorsports Director: “Fabio has clearly made a step to become one of the consistent front-running guys in MotoGP. We cannot question his speed and commitment to delivering the best performance. He is a strong team player and a good guy, that we know will fit easily into our Red Bull KTM Factory Racing project. During our talks we were impressed by how passionate he is to give the maximum on track and off it, and we believe the next chapter together will be exciting and memorable. Welcome Fabio.”
