Sirens sounded in Kuwait on Thursday evening, according to the state news agency.
The Kuwaiti army reported that its air defense systems were intercepting hostile Iranian drone threats.
Local sources indicated that Iran launched drone and missile attacks against the Al‑Salem airbase in Kuwait, as reported by the semi‑official Tasnim News Agency.
The Al‑Salem base, primarily used by Kuwaiti and US forces, serves as a key operational and logistical hub for US troops in the region.
According to the IRGC‑affiliated Tasnim News Agency, the base’s Patriot air‑defense systems were activated.
Earlier on Thursday, the Kuwaiti Army announced it was intercepting Iranian hostile drones and missiles within its airspace.
“The General Staff of the Army notes that if explosion sounds are heard, they are the result of air defense systems intercepting the hostile attacks,” the Kuwaiti military said in a statement.
Additionally, a border crossing between Kuwait and Iraq was targeted by drones, the army posted on X, citing Defense Ministry spokesperson Brig‑Gen. Saud Abdulaziz Al‑Otaibi.
“The Abdali border crossing was subjected, this evening, to repeated targeting by hostile drones, which resulted in material damage, with no human injuries recorded,” the post said.
