Labour has secured victory in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election, overcoming a strong challenge from Green Party leader Zack Polanski.
Camden council leader Sagal Abdi-Wali retained the north London seat for Labour, though the party’s majority narrowed significantly from 11,572 to 3,364.
The by-election was convened following former Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s resignation as MP, serving as a critical test of Labour’s ability to retain support among voters shifting toward the Green Party, particularly under Mayor Andy Burnham’s leadership.
The inner London constituency has remained a Labour stronghold since its creation in 1983, with the party consistently securing at least 40% of the vote in every general election.
