Substitutes Michael Olise and Desire Doue ignited a late rally, scoring four goals to overturn a 1‑0 deficit and secure a 4‑1 victory for France against Belgium in Nations League Group A1 at the Stade de France.
France recovered from an early deficit to defeat Belgium 4‑1 in their Nations League Group A1 encounter at the Stade de France on Monday.
Zinedine Zidane recorded his first home win since taking charge, following a 1‑1 draw with Italy three days earlier, thanks to a formidable performance from his replacements.
Belgium’s Dodi Lukebakio opened the scoring in the 35th minute, but a trio of substitutes turned the match around in the final quarter‑hour. Desire Doue equalised with a left‑footed strike from the edge of the box in the 77th minute. Four minutes later, Rayan Cherki put France ahead, converting a cross from Michael Olise. Olise then completed a brace just before and during stoppage time, the second goal arriving from a precise pass by Doue.
In the same Nations League group, Italy secured a 3‑1 victory over Turkiye, with Gianluca Scamacca, Riccardo Calafiori and Pio Esposito finding the net. Turkiye’s Aral Simsir had levelled just after the hour mark.
France top Group A1 with ten points, three clear of Italy and four ahead of Belgium. Turkiye remain winless, having lost all four matches.
France will travel to Milan to face Italy in their penultimate group fixture next month before hosting Turkiye at home.
