Lean hog futures closed mixed Tuesday, with nearby contracts under pressure while some deferred contracts, including December and later months, posted modest gains.

The USDA’s national base hog price was reported at $97.57 Tuesday afternoon, up $0.32 from the previous session. The CME Lean Hog Index fell $0.66 on June 11 to $92.09.

USDA’s Tuesday afternoon pork carcass cutout value slipped $1.55 to $95.57 per cwt, with all primals lower, led by declines in the butt and ham.

Federally inspected hog slaughter was estimated at 963,000 head Tuesday, matching the week-to-date total. That figure was up 22,000 head from the previous week and 9,326 head above the same week a year earlier.

July 2026 hogs settled at $94.800, down $1.775. August 2026 hogs settled at $95.050, down $0.725. October 2026 hogs settled at $79.925, down $0.300.
