Lean hog futures are trading mixed—up a dime to down a nickel in the front months—during Tuesday’s midday session. The USDA’s national base hog price was reported at $89.64 on Tuesday morning, up 99 cents from the previous day. Meanwhile, the CME Lean Hog Index fell another 66 cents on August 28 to $90.86.

The USDA’s pork carcass cutout value rose a penny in Tuesday’s AM report, reaching $97.68. The loin, picnic, and belly primal cuts were lower. Federally inspected hog slaughter for Monday was estimated at 476,000 head, 7,000 more than the prior Monday.

Oct 26 Hogs are at $83.750, up $0.075.

Dec 26 Hogs are at $74.250, up $0.100.

Feb 27 Hogs are at $76.475, down $0.050.
