Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, on Friday, condemned Israel’s recent attacks in southern and eastern Lebanon, which have escalated, resulting in additional deaths and destruction, and called for an immediate comprehensive ceasefire.

Aoun stated that the ongoing Israeli attacks in the south and the Bekaa region, along with the resulting killings and destruction, represent a dangerous and condemned escalation.

He added that these attacks have struck dozens of innocent civilians, including women and children, and are undermining efforts to secure a ceasefire and end the war, particularly following recent developments between the United States and Iran.

Aoun emphasized that these attacks will not deter Lebanon from pursuing an immediate comprehensive ceasefire.

He stressed that there can be no leniency on this matter, as a comprehensive ceasefire is essential for addressing other issues, foremost Israel’s withdrawal, the deployment of its forces, and the repatriation of detainees.

The statement came after at least 31 Lebanese were killed in southern and eastern Lebanon since early Friday as Israel continued its attacks on the country, despite the US‑Iran deal coming into force.
