Legacy Motor Club revealed on Sunday that Erik Jones has signed a multi-year contract extension, cementing his role as the long-term driver of the No. 43 Toyota Camry XSE.
He will be joined by two new teammates next year, with Josh Berry taking over the No. 42 from John Hunter Nemechek, and Riley Herbst piloting the newly added No. 84 as the team’s third chartered entry.
“Erik Jones is the cornerstone of what we are building at Legacy, and he has rightfully earned that distinction,” stated Jimmie Johnson, co-owner and seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion. “He has been integral to this organization through every phase of its evolution. His consistency, professionalism, and deep understanding of what it takes to compete at this level are exactly what we need as we welcome new drivers and prepare for 2027. Retaining Erik in the No. 43 for the long haul was a top priority, and we are pleased to finalize it.”

As the most seasoned driver on the 2027 roster, Jones boasts three Cup Series victories—including two Southern 500 triumphs—along with over 350 career starts at the sport’s highest level. He has also secured nine NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts wins, seven NASCAR Truck Series victories, and the 2015 Truck Series championship.
Jones has driven the No. 43 since before Jimmie Johnson even acquired the organization and rebranded it as Legacy Motor Club, first piloting the iconic car number in 2021 when it was known as Richard Petty Motorsports.
“I’m thrilled to continue being a part of what Legacy Motor Club is building,” Jones said in a team release. “I took over the No. 43 in 2021, and it has become a significant part of my career. Through every transition, we continue to improve, and I’m glad to be a part of that. This season in particular, we’ve found our rhythm and maintained consistency. I’m grateful for the opportunity to keep building on that momentum in the years ahead.”
