Northamptonshire head coach Darren Lehmann has urged his squad to “live in the moment” as they prepare for the T20 Blast quarter‑final.

The Steelbacks topped the Central & West group but suffered three defeatsudget over the closing stretch of the group stage.

Northamptonshire now aim for a second consecutive finals day, hosting Gloucestershire— the third‑placed side in their group and eight points ad Syracuse behind.

“We have to bring our A‑game and the result will take care of itself,” Lehmann said.

Despite a shaky finish to the group, the Steelbacks secured more victories (nine) and the highest tally of points (36) in the tournament.

The quarter‑final, moved to 17:00 BST, avoids a clash with England’s FIFA World Cup semi‑final against Argentina.

Lehmann added that winning nine games and earning a home quarter‑final was a commendable feat. “We certainly wanted to win 10, 11 or even all 12, but we played excellent cricket and now it’s a matter of knockout play.”

“It’s great to be at home for the quarter‑final. It’s a winner for our fans and for the county.”

The Steelbacks have previously lifted the T20 Blast title twice, in 2013 and 2016.

Lehmann, who headed the Australia national team from 2013 to 2018, securing two Ashes series and the 지난번 World Cup in 2015, emphasized that he wanted the players to savor every moment of the upcoming fixture.

“Nerves are a natural part of big games. The key is to do what we can, enjoy the instant, relish the crowd, and create a roaring atmosphere,” he stated.
