Leicestershire have signed batter Hamza Shaikh from Warwickshire on a three-year deal.
The 20-year-old initially joins the Foxes on loan for the remainder of the campaign, before making the switch permanent in November.
Shaikh, who has represented England’s second-string Lions side and participated at Under-19 level, has been with Warwickshire since childhood.
He transitioned from Edgbaston’s youth academy to debut in One-Day Cup at 16 in 2022, later contributing to the County Championship and T20 Blast for the Bears.
With 301 runs in eight first-class matches and nearly 600 in 28 List A games, Shaikh has demonstrated strong all-round potential.
Leicestershire’s director of cricket, Claude Henderson, emphasized Shaikh’s talent and work ethic, calling him “a significant signing” with “outstanding potential” and a “desire to develop further.”
