Brighton-based electronica and post-punk quartet Lemonsuckr have released their second EP, ‘Life Is A Heist’, serving as a precursor to their upcoming string of live performances in summer 2026.
Following the momentum of their 2025 debut ‘H.E.A.T.’, this new five-track collection—featuring ‘Rugrat’, ‘Stain’, ‘House Of Fire’, ‘Grandaddy’, and the title track—marks a significant artistic evolution for the band, whom they describe as “coming of age.”
On the menacing disco track ‘Stain’, frontman Guy Ferris explores the pain of a fractured family dynamic. Ferris noted that while their debut was more experimental with themes, this project is far more personal: “The lyrics feel a lot more intrusive into my life and the things that we care about as a group… this one cuts me open a little bit more.”
Similarly, the glitchy, high-energy ‘House On Fire’ examines the volatility of romantic connections. Ferris described it as a reflection on tumultuous relationships, depicting two people who are a perfect match yet fundamentally incompatible.
The distorted track ‘Grandaddy’ functions as a self-reflective conversation with Ferris’s younger self. Already a highlight of their live sets—including a recent appearance at the Great Escape Festival—Ferris describes the song as a “caricature” of his teenage years.
The EP opens with ‘Rugrat’, a brooding fusion of post-punk and electronica where Ferris revisits difficult childhood memories. The journey concludes with the title track, ‘Life Is A Heist’, a slow-burning piece influenced by Massive Attack that meditates on the isolation and struggle of growing up.
‘Life Is A Heist’ is available now on all streaming platforms and as a limited, numbered 12” white vinyl edition, featuring ‘H.E.A.T.’ on the B-side.
The band is set for a busy summer festival circuit, with confirmed appearances at Latitude, 2000Trees, PsychFest, and Circuit Break Festival. Additionally, Lemonsuckr will support Chalk at London’s Electric Ballroom on July 24.
