Legion Go S with SteamOS offers a compelling alternative to the $789 Steam Deck OLED. It runs the same software, but features a two‑stage trigger design, a larger eight‑inch IPS display (1080p up to 120 Hz versus the Deck OLED’s 800p/90 Hz), double the memory and storage (32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD), and a slightly quicker Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor.
Priced at $999.99 — its current Best Buy discount — it’s a strong contender for anyone shopping for a handheld. While it doesn’t match the $1,299.99 Asus ROG Xbox Ally X20, which packs the Z2 Extreme chip and an OLED screen, the Legion Go S still delivers solid performance.
This version originally shipped with Windows 11 and the Ryzen Z2 Go chip. Although newer, the Z2 Go is less powerful than the Z1 Extreme found in the discounted model. Pairing SteamOS with the upgraded internals yields a noticeably better experience.
