LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday ordered the Government College University (GCU) Lahore campus to accept the admission application of a female student who was unable to submit her form due to technical malfunctions on the university’s online portal.

The petitioner, Iman Imran, was represented by Advocate Safdar Shaheen Pirzada. The petition named the GCU Vice Chancellor, Registrar, and Director of Admissions as respondents.

Counsel for the petitioner stated that after completing her O-Levels in 2023 and Intermediate (ICS Statistics) in 2025, she attempted to apply for the BS-BAF and BS Law programs for the 2026 academic session. However, persistent server outages, network errors, and portal instabilities prevented her from completing the submission before the extended deadline of July 7, 2026.

The court heard that despite the student successfully completing a significant portion of the online application and submitting a formal written request for an extension, the GCU administration failed to provide necessary assistance.

Advocate Pirzada argued that a student’s academic career should not be compromised by administrative and technological failures. He requested the court to compel GCU to accept a physical application and grant the student provisional eligibility for the open-merit admission process.

The judge directed the GCU administration to process the petitioner’s admission application without delay. The petition was disposed of following assurances from GCU counsel regarding compliance with the court’s order.
