Liam Rosenior has returned to football management with Paris FC after being relieved of his duties by Chelsea in April.

The 41‑year‑old spent less than four months at Stamford Bridge before returning to France on a two‑year deal, with an option for a third year.

Rosenior, previously in charge of Strasbourg before his Chelsea appointment, succeeds Antoine Kombouare after Paris finished 11th in Ligue 1 last season.

The club, owned by the Arnault family with Red Bull as a minority shareholder, aims to achieve greater success.

Paris FC explained that Rosenior was appointed due to his extensive experience at the highest level, his talent development skills, and his commitment to attractive, attacking football.

Rosenior succeeded Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge in January, following the Manchester City manager’s disagreement with club officials.

After an encouraging start, the team’s form declined and Rosenior lost his final five Premier League matches, during which Chelsea failed to score.

Nonetheless, he continues to be highly regarded for his work at Strasbourg, Chelsea’s sister club, which finished seventh in 2024‑25 and secured a spot in the UEFA Conference League with the youngest squad among Europe’s top five leagues.

Rosenior began his coaching career with Brighton’s Under‑23 side before joining Derby County, initially as Wayne Rooney’s assistant and later as interim manager.

He was appointed Hull City head coach in 2022, guiding the club to 15th in the Championship in his debut season and a seventh‑place finish the following year, before being dismissed after missing the play‑offs.

Chelsea have replaced Rosenior with former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso, the sixth permanent manager at Stamford Bridge in four years under BlueCo ownership.
