Liverpool and Everton have been linked with a surprise move for VfB Stuttgart attacker Jamie Leweling.
According to reports from Sky Germany, both Merseyside clubs are showing interest in the German international. It remains to be seen whether either side will attempt to secure his signature before the transfer window closes.
Jamie Leweling could solve Liverpool’s right-wing problem
The 25-year-old is under contract with the German club until 2029, meaning Stuttgart is likely to demand a substantial fee. Last season, Leweling was highly impressive, contributing to 11 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.
As a right-sided winger capable of playing on the left, Leweling fits the profile of a much-needed addition for Liverpool. With Mohamed Salah’s departure, the Reds require a quality replacement on the right flank. Although new signings Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola are talented, they are more comfortable operating on the left side. Leweling could be the ideal solution, and Liverpool possesses the financial capability to meet Stuttgart’s premium valuation.
However, with the transfer window nearing its end, negotiating a deal late in the day will prove challenging for the club.
Leweling could replace Ndiaye at Everton
On the other hand, Everton are also monitoring his situation closely. With Iliman Ndiaye set to join Manchester City, the Toffees are in need of a direct replacement.
