Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola has received a boost following Paris Saint-Germain’s strategic reinforcements in their attacking line.
The club has been working to secure a deal for the 23-year-old throughout the summer, but negotiations have been hindered by PSG’s valuation of approximately £145 million.
This situation may evolve after the French champions signed Mika Godts, Maghnes Akliouche, and Ferran Torres, increasing competition for Barcola’s role in the team.
Liverpool Expected to Submit Renewed Offer
According to reports, Liverpool plans to make another offer after PSG completed the signing of Godts from Ajax.
The Belgian winger has inked a five-year contract, with the deal potentially worth around £47 million.
Barcola is believed to be interested in joining Liverpool, and PSG’s recent acquisitions could make a transfer more feasible. He was an unused substitute in the 2-1 UEFA Super Cup win over Aston Villa, with Akliouche starting.
Luis Enrique commented on potential departures, stating, “When a player isn’t happy, it’s best to find another solution.”
Enrique has previously described Barcola as “unstoppable.”
Liverpool Should Re-engage with Financial Prudence
These developments have strengthened Liverpool’s negotiating position.
With PSG now featuring Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Désiré Doué, Akliouche, Torres, and Godts in attacking roles, justifying an inflated fee for Barcola becomes challenging if his minutes are limited.
Liverpool requires an elite winger, and Barcola is an ideal match. His pace, directness, and ability in one-on-one situations, combined with his age, make him a valuable long-term asset for the team.
The primary concern remains the cost. Even with PSG’s increased depth, £145 million is a substantial sum.
Liverpool should therefore submit another serious offer while adhering to financial discipline. The shifted circumstances may compel PSG to compromise.
