Frankie Moscatiello has a passion for oysters.

Long Island native Frankie Moscatiello, a member of the Savannah Bananas, is returning home this weekend to perform at Oyster Bay’s annual Oyster Fest at Theodore Roosevelt Park.

“I’ll be wearing my signature Italian flag headband — that’s how many fans recognize me,” said Moscatiello, a Rocky Point native, in an interview with The Post. “Every player on the team has their own character. I fully embraced the Long Island Italian guy from New York persona.”

Moscatiello joined the Savannah Bananas a year ago following several seasons in independent and overseas baseball, including time with the Long Island Ducks, after his collegiate pitching career at St. Thomas Aquinas College.

“The financial realities of independent baseball aren’t ideal,” he admitted. “After eight years as a professional player—and just turning 30—I decided to retire my cleats, embrace adulthood, and pursue a conventional career.”

Then a far more appealing opportunity presented itself through a friend’s suggestion.

Moscatiello traveled to Dallas for a tryout with the Bananas, where he was evaluated on both his dancing ability and his baseball skills. He “God willing” earned a spot on the roster, along with a significantly more lucrative salary.

Today, fans—particularly across the Northeast—connect with his paisan persona and enthusiastically support his success.

“I love it,” Moscatiello said.

“I say it every day: this is the best job in the world, and I believe that wholeheartedly.”
