Rams quarterback Ty Simpson finalized his rookie deal on Saturday, becoming the final first-round selection from the 2026 NFL Draft to ink his contract.
The contract is fully guaranteed for four years and $25.4 million, including a $14.9 million signing bonus, according to NFL Network.
The Rams’ decision to take Simpson 13th overall was a shock, given the presence of reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford at quarterback.
Simpson, once projected as a second-round pick, totaled 3,567 passing yards, 28 touchdowns and five interceptions in 15 starts during his debut season at Alabama. He is expected to have ample time to develop behind Stafford, who at 38 is entering his 16th NFL season.
The other first-round quarterback, Fernando Mendoza of Indiana, was chosen first overall by the Las Vegas Raiders. The Heisman Trophy winner agreed to a fully guaranteed four-year rookie contract worth $57.27 million, which also features a fifth-year option.
