LOTR: The Rings of Power Season 3 Unveils New Cast, Trailer Highlights Love and War at Comic-Con

During a Friday panel at Comic-Con, Prime Video premiered a new Season 3 trailer that underscores the encroaching doom facing Middle‑earth’s heroes and warriors.

The Hall H announcements introduced several new cast members: Simon Pegg will voice the Balrog, while Eddie Marsan portrays Thrain, a dwarf royalty linked to The Hobbit’s Thorin Oakenshield. Andrew Richardson takes on the role of Anarion, king of Gondor; Zubin Varla plays the Ringwraith Khamûl the Easterling; and Adam Young appears as original character Marnûkh. Additional panel participant Cynthia Addai‑Robinson, who plays Queen Tar‑Miriel, also joined the presentation.

The trailer opens in the smoking plains of Mordor, where Sauron (Charlie Vickers) declares, “Now, is the mighty hour come,” as molten metal is poured into a familiar ring‑shaped mould. It quickly shifts to a joyous Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) dancing with Celeborn (Jamie Campbell Bower), an Elf Prince introduced as her new love interest—this pairing is also canonically tied to Tolkien lore as her eventual husband.

In another scene, an orc warns Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova) that the Dark Lord is “on the brink of crafting … one ring to rule them all.” The footage intercuts with terrifying new foes—dragons, torch‑wielding Ringwraiths, and the enigmatic Dark Wizard (Ciarán Hinds)—while a voice‑over notes that Sauron has amassed “armies scaring Middle‑earth.”

Meanwhile, Prince Durin (Owain Arthur) and his wife Disa (Sophia Nomvete) confront the fallout of their newly discovered mithril mines beneath Khazad‑dûm. Season 3 hints that the metal’s renown has spread, drawing rivals. Though Durin wields his axe in preparation, the narrative foreshadows that the mines will ultimately lead to his kingdom’s downfall in the Second Age. Gandalf the Grey (Daniel Weyman), now aware of his identity after Season 2’s reveal, delivers a chilling warning about death to those who enter the impending conflict.

The trailer builds to Sauron’s ominous proclamation, “The shadow rises in Middle‑earth,” as a battle‑ready Galadriel slashes at enemies. He is shown successfully forging the iconic One Ring and asks, “How would you like to rise with it?”

The Hall H panel also disclosed that Season 3 will take place several years after Season 2, at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron. Celeborn appears poised to join Galadriel and Arondir in the fray, raising questions about his prior absence. As the Dark Lord nears completion of the ring, the story asks who will halt his quest to subjugate all of Middle‑earth.

Prime Video confirmed the third season will premiere on November 11, 2026. The series has amassed over 185 million viewers worldwide and remains a cornerstone of Amazon’s Prime membership growth.
