Speaking to Spain’s national radio network RNE, De la Fuente reiterated his position: “Football is a fundamental pillar of society, embodying unity, peace, and harmony. The negative aspects are often highlighted, but they must be brought to light to prevent recurrence. It is intolerable and unacceptable.”

When questioned about the severe penalties imposed on Argentine players, especially the 10‑match ban handed to Paredes, De la Fuente defended the disciplinary committee’s decision: “There are governing bodies, each making the decisions they deem appropriate. We cannot project an image, to over two billion people, of such an ugly conclusion,” he said.

The Spanish manager concluded by firmly defending his squad and assigning full responsibility to the opposition: “But the most important point is that our players were the victims. None of them were involved in any of those clashes; they were victims and truly the ones harmed by all those situations.”
