Luka Doncic didn’t hold back when playfully roasting his Lakers teammate Austin Reaves during a Golf Channel interview. When asked if Reaves offers him golfing advice, Doncic chuckled and quipped, “He’s worried I’ll surpass him.”

Since Doncic’s February 2025 trade to the Lakers, his rapport with Reaves has thrived on mutual trolling. The duo’s chemistry extends beyond the court, blending lighthearted jabs with shared hobbies like golf.
Before asserting Reaves’ fear of his skills, Doncic revealed he picked up golf after visiting Top Golf. He also admitted Reaves and LeBron James occasionally aid his game, calling him a “plus-two player” who’s “OK” at the sport.
Trash-talking on the court persists, though. When questioned about mocking Reaves during games, Doncic shrugged: “A little bit less, but also.” He also joked about golf’s addictive nature, saying he’d play “36 holes” if he had the time—an eight-hour commitment.
Despite his golfing struggles, Doncic acknowledges the mental patience required for the sport—comparing its difficulty to basketball. His offseason bond with Reaves continues, even as the Lakers enter a post-LeBron era. With a fresh $185 million extension securing Reaves’ role, Doncic eyes stardom as the team’s new face, aiming for its 18th title.
