Machi Big Brother, a prominent Ethereum leveraged bettor, reduced his 5,264 ETH position by 52.5% over a month through three Bored Ape NFT sales, yet his account remained perilously close to liquidation. By August 14, the ETH long had shrunk to 2,500 ETH with a liquidation price at $1,859.15—just $22.50 above the market midpoint.
Hyperliquid API data confirms the account held a 25x leveraged position at 3:51:43 p.m. UTC, with a liquidation threshold of $1,859.15. Twelve seconds later, the ETH price rose to $1,881.65, creating a razor-thin 1.21% buffer between the midpoint and forced-liquidation level. The position’s size had fallen from 5,264 ETH on July 14 to 2,500 ETH on August 14, while the liquidation price rose $102.39 from its earlier $1,756.76 level.
Three NFT sales—Bored Apes #251, #5670, and #5715—accounted for ETH withdrawals between July 14 and August 13. Lookonchain data shows these transactions coincided with margin closures totaling 1,708 ETH, resulting in approximately $96,301 in real-time losses. The account’s balance remained under $100,000, amplifying liquidation risk as the ETH price approached $1,860.

Hyperliquid’s fill data corroborates the NFT-driven reductions. On July 31, three separate long closures totaling 1,708 ETH were executed near $1,843.40 liquidation level. By August 14, the account’s exposure had halved, yet the liquidation price remained elevated due to market volatility. Etherscan confirms the address machibigbrother.eth controls the position, though individual execution details remain opaque.
While the NFT sales suggest portfolio management efforts, the public chain data reveals no direct buyer-to-Hyperliquid transaction chain. The correlation between asset sales and margin contractions indicates strategic rebalancing, though the absence of on-chain proof limits definitive conclusions. As of the latest observation, the 2,500 ETH long persists with a liquidation price 1.21% above the live ETH price, leaving minimal safety margin.
