The legal proceedings against the individual accused of stalking WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan have concluded.
Shawn Chan, a Canadian national in his 40s, was acquitted of federal stalking charges by a Middle District of Florida judge on Monday. The ruling determined Chan was not guilty by reason of insanity, resulting in his release to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Federal prosecutors alleged Chan traveled from Canada to Florida in May 2025 and visited Morgan’s private residence. Court documents indicate he searched for a spare key and attempted to enter through the front door. Security footage reportedly captured Chan handling a long air-rifle pellet gun left on the porch.
Although he never entered the residence, Chan left a note claiming a “friendly visit,” which included his contact information. Days later, he was seen at the WWE Performance Center, where security recognized him and notified authorities, leading to his arrest.
The case spanned nearly a year. Two psychologists testified that Chan’s mental health issues—including delusional disorder and adjustment disorder with anxiety and depression—prevented him from recognizing the wrongfulness of his actions. Court findings revealed he believed he had a personal relationship with Morgan and previously knew her, though these claims were deemed delusional. Before the ruling, Chan waived his right to a jury trial.
Morgan continues her role as WWE Women’s World Champion, currently competing in the Queen of the Ring tournament and set to face Charlotte Flair in a SmackDown semifinal on Friday.
