In the village of Dhunni, near the Saddar Kharian area of Gujranwala district, a young man was fatally shot after gunmen seized his mobile phone that contained a recording of a diesel theft.
The suspects—identified as Aqib, Salman, and Daniyal from the neighbouring village of Dhow, along with an unidentified accomplice—entered an under‑construction building belonging to Aamir Shahzad in Dhunni and confronted Muhammad Yousaf of Muzaffargarh district, who was living in the area, demanding his phone.
During the confrontation, the assailants also assaulted Yousaf’s uncle, Mujahid Hussain, forcing him to hand over the mobile device.
After taking the phone, the suspects opened fire on Yousaf, causing his death, and then escaped the scene.
According to Ghulam Yaseen, a relative of Yousaf and the complainant in the case, the phone held footage of a diesel theft from a tractor owned by landlord Amir Shahzad, which the attackers sought to destroy.
Police have registered a case and arrested three of the four named suspects.
