The highly-coveted midfielder joins the Premier League champions from Lille on a five-year contract valued at $117 million.
Lille has officially confirmed the transfer of teenage Moroccan sensation Ayyoub Bouaddi to Manchester City in a deal worth 100 million euros ($117 million). The announcement, made on Wednesday, concludes months of intense speculation regarding the young midfielder’s future.
The ten-time Premier League champions moved to secure Bouaddi’s services following a period of significant squad transition, including the departures of Rodri to Barcelona and Tijjani Reijnders to Al-Qadsiah, with Nico Gonzalez also expected to depart the Etihad Stadium.
Bouaddi rose to international prominence as a key member of Morocco’s FIFA World Cup 2026 squad. He demonstrated remarkable composure in the center of the pitch as the Atlas Lions navigated their way to the tournament quarterfinals before being eliminated by France.
Having extended his stay at Lille last year, the French club entered negotiations with three years remaining on his contract, setting a firm asking price of 100 million euros.

A product of the French youth development system, Bouaddi was long regarded as one of the most promising talents in Europe. Earlier this year, he achieved the distinction of becoming the youngest player to reach 50 appearances in Ligue 1.
His career has been defined by maturity beyond his years. In 2024, just before his 17th birthday, he played a pivotal role in Lille’s historic Champions League victory over Real Madrid.
During that standout performance in northern France, the young midfielder held his own against a world-class midfield featuring French internationals Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouameni.
Tactical analysts have frequently lauded Bouaddi for his ability to maintain composure under intense pressure and his mastery of the midfield tempo.
