Baleba signs for Man Utd

Manchester United have completed the acquisition of Cameroon international midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion, with the deal reportedly worth around £70 million.

The Red Devils have long admired the 22‑year‑old and attempted to secure his signature last summer. At that time, Brighton demanded a fee of at least £115 million, prompting United to hold off on a formal bid.

Baleba endured a difficult 2025/26 campaign, his performances suffering as speculation over a move persisted. The resulting dip in value has allowed United to negotiate a considerably lower price this transfer window, with the total package rising to approximately £70 million including add‑ons.

The Cameroon international is currently recovering from an ankle injury sustained during pre‑season training with Brighton. He is not expected to resume full training until mid‑September and may not make his debut for United until after the upcoming international break.
