Man Utd stance on Kone

Manchester United remain unconvinced about pursuing a deal for Roma midfielder Manu Koné this summer, according to The Telegraph.

The Red Devils have already bolstered their engine room with the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, yet they are still targeting a third midfield addition before the new campaign kicks off.

Koné features prominently on their shortlist, and contact has reportedly been made with the player’s representatives. However, there is not yet unanimous support within the club’s hierarchy for advancing a formal bid for the France international.

The 23-year-old impressed during a strong Serie A campaign with Roma and elevated his profile further with standout performances for France at the World Cup. Despite his pedigree, doubts persist internally regarding his ability to adapt quickly to the Premier League’s intensity and pace.

Consequently, United may prioritise a candidate with proven English top-flight experience for their final midfield slot. Fulham’s Sander Berge has emerged as a potential alternative target.
