Following a stinging 2‑0 loss at Atlético Madrid, Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez vented his frustration at the board, insisting the club has failed to prioritize squad reinforcement this summer.

The Red Devils have faltered badly this week, remaining winless in five matches across domestic and European competitions after the Spain triumph.

“‘Really poor,’ Martinez remarked to Amazon Prime when queried about the team’s performance against Atlético.

“I have to control myself a lot but sometimes serves as a reflection of how our organization is currently operating,” he explained.

“I am unequivocally ‘100 percent’ that significantly higher investment will be essential for the upcoming campaign, as players must take on more responsibilities to secure a competitive edge.” he asserted.

He further raised concerns that although the club strategically built a foundation last season, the promised upgrades never materialized outside the midfield.

Pressure mounts on Carrick after a five‑game losing streak, yet Martinez warned that repeatedly swapping managers does not address broader institutional issues.

“You cannot continually rotate the management; alternative areas require scrutiny as much as the tactical approach,” he cautioned.

Carrick responded that he had not fully assessed the scope of the accusations prior to speaking, emphasizing stability in leadership. “Recent results provide easier targets, but the real problem lies elsewhere,” he commented.

Former striker Wayne Rooney defended Martinez’s stance, labeling the language excessively emotional. “I feel he has perhaps crossed the line, turning internal dissent into public demand for change,” Rooney told the network.
