The Toronto Maple Leafs have named Steve Sullivan head coach of their American Hockey League affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.
Sullivan, 51, returns to the Marlies bench after serving as an assistant coach with the club before a brief stint as an assistant with the Maple Leafs beginning Dec. 26, 2025. He originally joined the organization prior to the 2024-25 season.
Joining Sullivan’s staff, Mark Giordano has been elevated to assistant coach. He will work alongside goaltending coach Hannu Toivonen and video coach Nick Biamonte.
Before arriving in Toronto, Sullivan spent four seasons with the Arizona Coyotes organization, serving as assistant general manager from 2017 to 2021 while overseeing the club’s AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners. He also held roles as a development coach and director of player development within Arizona’s hockey operations department.
As a player, Sullivan appeared in 1,011 regular-season NHL games over 16 seasons with New Jersey, Toronto, Chicago, Nashville, Pittsburgh, and Arizona. His professional career also includes 143 AHL contests, a Calder Cup championship with the Albany River Rats in 1995, and two AHL All-Star Classic selections.
