Maple Leafs Sign Elite Defenseman Darren Raddysh to Eight-Year Contract]
The Toronto Maple Leafs have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent defenseman Darren Raddysh on an eight-year contract. The deal, announced Tuesday, brings the 28-year-old blueliner to Toronto, where he’ll bolster the team’s defensive corps.
“We are thrilled to add a defenseman of Darren’s caliber to our organization,” Maple Leafs GM John Chayka said in a news release. “Darren has emerged as one of the NHL’s premier two-way defensemen, combining elite puck-moving ability with poise, competitiveness and strong play in all three zones. He strengthens our blueline in every situation and is exactly the type of player we want helping lead this team.”
Raddysh split the 2023-24 season between the Dallas Stars and New York Rangers, accumulating 23 points across 71 contests. Known for his intelligent positioning and versatile skating, he has established himself as a reliable defender capable of contributing in all situations. The eight-year commitment represents a significant investment in Toronto’s future, pairing Raddysh with existing core pieces as the organization aims to compete for a Stanley Cup.
