Marc Márquez spearheaded a Ducati triple-header at the Sachsenring on Saturday, leading a 1-2-3 finish in the MotoGP sprint race ahead of his brother Alex and teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio.
Marco Bezzecchi was sidelined after a qualifying crash, allowing his teammate Jorge Martín to extend his championship lead to 11 points with a sixth-place finish.
The event marked the debut of MotoGP’s latest safety adjustment—wider spacing between grid slots and rows—but the start itself was uneventful, with pole-sitter Marc maintaining his advantage over Alex.
Ai Ogura briefly edged past Di Giannantonio at the opening corner, yet the Italian reclaimed the position later in the lap, leaving the three front-row Ducatis running in grid order at the front.
Behind the leading Ducatis came a pursuing trio with Ogura ahead of Trackhouse teammate Raúl Fernández and Jorge Martín. By the midpoint, the top four had pulled a slight gap over the chasing pack comprising Fernández, Martín, factory Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia, and KTM’s Pedro Acosta.

On lap 11 of the 15-lap contest, only Alex Márquez appeared capable of mounting a challenge, as the leading quartet had effectively become a front pair. However, Di Giannantonio mounted a late surge, pressuring Alex for second place across the closing laps.
Yet, true to the tone of an uneventful sprint, the fluctuating margins never sparked any outright overtaking once the early running order was set.
Ducati and the Márquez brothers had ample reason to celebrate, though fans at the Sachsenring were left wanting more excitement—a race that matched last month’s Balaton Park sprint for lack of drama.
