Marvel Studios Announces Principal Cast for Upcoming X-Men Film, Featuring Adam Driver as Mister Sinister

Marvel Studios has announced the principal cast of their upcoming X-Men film, featuring Adam Driver in the role of the antagonist Mister Sinister.

The casting details were revealed by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige during Disney’s D23 convention in Anaheim, California on August 14, marking the beginning of the first X-Men film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The ensemble includes Sadie Sink (known for Stranger Things) as Jean Grey, Kit Connor (Heartstopper) as Scott Summers (Cyclops), Samara Weaving (Ready Or Not) as Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott (Poor Things) as Charles Xavier (Professor X), Maya Boyd (& Juliet) as Storm, and Inde Navarrette (Obsession) as Rogue.

During the announcement, the cast joined Feige and director Jake Schreier on stage, with Driver participating via video link. The actors had not met prior to the reveal, with Feige noting they gathered backstage just moments before stepping onto the stage.

Driver expressed enthusiasm about joining the MCU, stating, “Kevin and I had been discussing this collaboration for years, and we finally found the right project.” He humorously remarked on the opportunity to play Magneto before correcting himself: “Even better, I’ll be playing Nathaniel Milbury.”

The screenplay is being crafted by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo, who previously collaborated on Thunderbolts* and Netflix’s Beef. Schreier, who directed Thunderbolts*, will helm the film, which serves as the first standalone X-Men production under Marvel Studios following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox. The movie is scheduled for theatrical release on May 5, 2028, after Avengers: Secret Wars in December 2027, which will act as an MCU reboot.

Future X-Men appearances include returning Fox-era actors such as Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), and Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) in Avengers: Doomsday, set for release on December 18, 2025.
