Leg-spinner Mason Crane has been recalled to the England squad for the upcoming one-day international tri-series in Pakistan, marking his first potential international appearance in eight years.
The 29-year-old, who earned his sole Test cap against Australia in Sydney in 2018, has been handed an opportunity in the upcoming tri-series, which also features Sri Lanka. Having also played two T20 internationals in 2017, Crane will look to strengthen his case for a leading role as England’s primary spinner in Test cricket.
Sam Curran and Adil Rashid return to the squad following injuries, while uncapped pair James Coles and Henry Crocombe have also been included.
Jos Buttler remains sidelined with the hamstring injury he sustained last week, while Jacob Bethell continues his recovery from knee surgery. Brydon Carse remains absent due to an ongoing investigation by the Cricket Regulator following an incident outside a nightclub in Derby in August.
England squad for the tri-series in Pakistan: Harry Brook (Yorkshire – captain), Gus Atkinson (Surrey), Sonny Baker (Hampshire), Tom Banton (Somerset), James Coles (Sussex), Jordan Cox (Essex), Mason Crane (Glamorgan), Henry Crocombe (Sussex), Sam Curran (Surrey), Liam Dawson (Hampshire), Ben Duckett (Nottinghamshire), Will Jacks (Surrey), Jamie Overton (Surrey), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Josh Tongue (Nottinghamshire).
