Mattel Unveils Whitney Houston Collector Barbie Doll

Mattel is honoring Whitney Houston by releasing a collector’s doll that commemorates more than four decades of the late singer’s influence on the music industry.

Whitney Houston released her self-titled debut album in 1985 after being discovered by legendary executive Clive Davis. She died on February 12, 2012, at age 48. Her catalog includes multi-platinum hits such as “The Greatest Love of All,” “Saving All My Love for You,” “All at Once,” “Didn’t We Almost Have It All,” “Where Do Broken Hearts Go,” “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me),” “I Will Always Love You,” “How Will I Know,” and her iconic Super Bowl XXV performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” in 1991.

Throughout her career, Whitney Houston sold over 220 million albums, singles, and videos worldwide and remains the only artist to achieve seven consecutive No. 1 singles.

The doll captures Houston’s signature look from the 1987 “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” video, featuring vibrant eye makeup, a replica of her purple tank‑dress outfit, and colorful drop earrings. The 12‑inch figure includes a miniature microphone and stand.

Pat Houston, working closely with Mattel’s design team, helped shape the doll’s look—from Houston’s iconic fashion and glamour to thoughtful details that celebrate one of her most memorable performances.

When Will the Whitney Houston Barbie Doll Be Available?

The Barbie Signature Whitney Houston Doll is now available at Target stores and online through Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Mattel Creations. It retails for $60.
