July 1 (Reuters) – Meta announced that its chief marketing officer, Alex Schultz, will assume the role of chief data officer to lead AI‑driven analytics worldwide.
The Facebook parent also elevated Vice President of Consumer Marketing and Growth Denise Moreno to the position of chief marketing officer.
“My focus in this new role is to transform how Meta learns and makes decisions in the AI era,” Schultz wrote in a LinkedIn post.
These leadership changes underscore Meta’s commitment to deepen its focus on data‑driven decision‑making and AI integration across its operations.
Schultz joined Meta in 2007 and has overseen diverse responsibilities, including shaping Meta’s brand strategy and managing WhatsApp privacy initiatives, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Meta’s shares rose 10% following a Bloomberg News report that the company is developing a cloud service to monetize surplus AI computing capacity.
With 17 years at Meta, Moreno began her career overseeing email marketing and growth experiments, as she noted in a separate post.
Axios was first to report Meta’s appointment of Schultz as chief data officer and Moreno’s elevation to chief marketing officer.
Meta is projected to invest up to $145 billion in AI infrastructure this year, representing a substantial share of the technology spending by major tech firms, which exceeds $700 billion.
