MetLife Stadium Set to Host World Cup Matches in New York‑New Jersey Region

New York City’s global reputation makes it a natural stage for World Cup football, even if the matches take place just across the Hudson River in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

For the second consecutive year, MetLife Stadium will serve as a premier FIFA venue, following its role as the host of the Club World Cup final in July 2025.

Opened in 2010, the 82,500‑seat arena features adjustable stands that allow the playing surface to conform to FIFA’s specifications. Although its standard field is artificial turf, the stadium has successfully installed natural grass for previous high‑profile events.

During the tournament, FIFA will refer to the venue as New York New Jersey Stadium.
