Mick Schumacher has teased the NTT IndyCar Series paddock over the past several races by indicating he knows the team he will join in 2027, though he wasn’t ready to make the announcement at that time.
On Friday morning, Schumacher and Meyer-Shank Racing officially announced their partnership for the upcoming season. The son of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher will drive the No. 66 MSR Honda alongside returning teammate Marcus Armstrong, who will compete in his third season with the team in the No. 60 MSR Honda.
Schumacher expressed his enthusiasm for the move: “I’m super excited to be working with everyone at Meyer-Shank Racing. It’s going to be a special journey getting started with MSR. I’m looking forward to learning more from the team— they’ve had some really great success, and of course, joining an Indy 500-winning team is awesome. It will be great to meet everyone on the team and work with MSR’s partners. I’m just excited to begin working toward 2027 together and start building a great partnership.”
Mick Schumacher’s Rookie IndyCar Season With Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing In 2026
Fresh off his first season in the NTT IndyCar Series, Schumacher has quickly adapted to North American open-wheel racing. The German driver tackled the full IndyCar schedule during his rookie campaign, including his inaugural experience on oval tracks.
Throughout the season, Schumacher demonstrated strong performance, particularly on ovals. He qualified fourth at Phoenix Raceway and most recently secured fourth place for Race 2 at Milwaukee. He concluded the season with a season-best eighth-place finish at Nashville Superspeedway. Schumacher also made his Indianapolis 500 debut in May, completing all 200 laps and earning Rookie of the Year honors in his first start at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval.
Before transitioning to IndyCar, Schumacher built a distinguished motorsport career across multiple top-tier racing categories. He won the 2018 FIA Formula 3 European Championship and followed it with the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2020. His Formula 2 success earned him a promotion to Formula 1, where he competed in 43 Grand Prix races with Haas F1 Team during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
More recently, Schumacher expanded his racing portfolio to include sports car competition in the FIA World Endurance Championship’s premier Hypercar category. His endurance racing experience features multiple starts at the 24 Hours of Le Mans as well as podium finishes in FIA WEC competition.

Mick Schumacher’s Sponsor At Meyer Shank Racing
Joining Schumacher at Meyer-Shank Racing in 2027 will be ENVE Composites, an advanced materials company based in Ogden, Utah. ENVE designs and manufactures high-performance carbon fiber bicycles, wheels, and components engineered to optimize aerodynamics, strength-to-weight ratios, and race day performance.
In addition to their recently launched ENVE Motorsports, which competes in the USF2000 and Indy NXT series, ENVE has a strong track record of success at the highest level of professional cycling, including multiple Tour de France victories through its partnership with UAE Team Emirates-XRG. The team utilizes ENVE wheels and components, with pro rider Tadej Pogačar using ENVE equipment en route to five overall Tour de France victories and two UCI World Championships.
“We’re very excited to have Mick and ENVE join us next year,” said MSR co-owner Mike Shank. “He really impressed us in his first season of IndyCar. It’s not an easy series to come into, and the competition is incredibly tight, but when you look at what he’s accomplished and the progress he’s made throughout the year, we see a lot of potential in him. Meyer Shank Closes Out 2026 Season This Weekend at Monterey
With its 2027 driver lineup officially confirmed, Meyer-Shank Racing will aim to conclude the 2026 season strongly at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend before shifting focus to preparations for the upcoming year.
Schumacher and Armstrong will make their first race starts as MSR teammates when the 2027 NTT IndyCar Series season opens with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, March 5-7.
