Middlesex Secure Two‑Year Signing of Yorkshire Wicketkeeper Harry Duke

Middlesex have signed wicketkeeper Harry Duke from Yorkshire on a two‑year contract following a successful loan spell. Duke, 25, joined Middlesex in September to cover for the injured keeper Joe Cracknell. He had also spent time at the club earlier in the season, and scored his maiden first‑class century against Durham in the County Championship before adding a crucial 55 in the Metro Bank One‑Day Cup final, helping Middlesex lift their first white‑ball trophy since 2008.

Despite those standout performances, Duke’s returns in first‑class cricket were limited. With Jonny Bairstow’s increased availability, he could not secure a permanent spot in the County Championship side. He spent part of the 2024 season on loan at Essex before returning to Middlesex, where his efforts proved impressive enough to earn a permanent deal.

“We have always been honest with Harry about what the opportunities would be for him here at Yorkshire,” said Gavin Hamilton, general manager of cricket. “His time at Middlesex on loan has been a really successful one for him personally; that is very much clear to see. Harry’s energy behind the stumps is hard to match across the county circuit and he remains a very talented cricketer. Everyone at Yorkshire Cricket wishes Harry the very best for the future.”
