“Speedball” Mike Bailey secured the contract to become the No. 1 contender for the AEW International Championship, earning a future title shot against either Kyle Fletcher or Bandido.

Six of AEW’s premier high-flyers—Bailey, El Clon, “Jungle Jack” Perry, Nick Wayne, and Komander—collided with the powerful Beast Mortos in Montreal for the championship opportunity. The match followed the San Diego Comic-Con press conference where champion Kyle Fletcher addressed the media.

Bailey’s victory sets up a compelling championship program. He shares strong chemistry with Fletcher dating back to a TNT Championship bout on Dynamite in March, while a potential match against Bandido would be a fresh encounter for AEW audiences.

Bailey Outlasts Elite Field in Chaotic Six-Man Ladder Match

• Bailey entered as the clear hometown favorite, receiving a standing ovation and loud chants early in the contest. The match opened with an exchange between Perry and El Clon that spilled to the floor.
• Bailey traded holds with Beast Mortos, who gained the advantage by pressing Bailey onto a ladder, drawing boos and French chants from the Bell Centre crowd.
• Nick Wayne entered to heavy boos, connecting with a baseball slide dropkick that sent a ladder into Komander before launching himself to the outside with a tope suicida.
• Mortos and El Clon combined for a pop-up double team, followed by synchronized dives from Perry and Bailey onto the competitors on the floor.
• The action migrated up the entrance ramp where Bailey executed a moonsault from the top of a ladder onto the field below. Back in the ring, Perry nearly retrieved the contract but was cut off by Mortos. As Mortos climbed, Komander sprinted across the top rope to take him down, only for Mortos to recover with a spectacular spinning dive onto a cluster of opponents.
• Three ladders of varying heights were erected in the ring. All six men climbed simultaneously, with everyone except a hobbled Mortos crashing to the mat. Mortos attempted to ascend despite the injury but was pulled down by Perry.
• Perry introduced multiple tables to the violence. A stunned silence fell over the arena as Perry hit a hurricanrana on Mortos through a table that refused to break. El Clon followed with a Coup de Grâce on Bailey through a table, and Komander crashed onto Wayne via a rope-walk dive through another.
• El Clon displayed impressive power with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on a charging Mortos. Komander walked a horizontal ladder but was caught mid-traverse by Clon, who delivered a Made in Japan off the structure.
• Wayne connected with a Phoenix Splash onto El Clon. Perry answered with a Canadian Destroyer through the horizontal ladder. The crowd erupted as Bailey positioned a ladder, only for Mortos to intervene. Bailey then placed Mortos on a ladder in the corner and drove him down with a double-knee moonsault.
• With the path cleared, Bailey scaled the ladder and unhooked the contract to a massive ovation.
