PHILADELPHIA — Knicks coach Mike Brown used a baseball analogy to criticize his team’s careless play during a 98‑93 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night at Xfinity Center.

Brown was particularly upset about the 13 turnovers the Knicks committed, which the 76ers converted into 23 points.

“It’s been going on all year,” Brown said. “We’re trying to hit a home run every time we get the ball. And we have to hit singles. We can’t hit a home run. We gotta hit singles offensively and then if our play breaks down, we have to move.”

“There’s too many times where we have too many guys trying to iso. And the other four guys sitting there and staring at the ball a whole possession and then we’re burping up bad shots.”

The crisp ball movement that defined the team’s championship run last season has been inconsistent through six games this year. Instead of finding open lanes, the Knicks are forcing passes into congested areas.

Jalen Brunson acknowledged the lapses: “It’s just a little careless,” he said. “Sometimes we’re hesitant, wanting to make the right play, but we’re also not trying to turn it over, and it’s just a little late to our decision‑making. It could be a lot of things, but obviously we’ve got to clean it up.”

Josh Hart added, “Some of them are just trying to make tough passes. Other ones, I don’t know. We just have to be more conscious of passes, what we’re doing, trying to be more deliberate.”

Karl‑Anthony Towns appeared in a left‑hand brace after Friday’s game, an injury he sustained when falling to the floor during the Knicks’ victory over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday.

He wore the brace both after Wednesday’s win and following the 76ers matchup.

When asked about the prospect of dealing with the injury moving forward, Towns remained tight‑lipped. “I think the Knicks gotta deal with the teams bringing their best shot every day,” he said. “That’s what I think. That’s something to deal with in the future.”
