Serie A clubs demonstrated considerable ambition during the 2026 summer transfer window, collectively spending over €1.16 billion on new signings.
This total exceeded the spending of their counterparts in La Liga, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1, though it still lagged behind the Premier League’s expenditure.

Milan and Juventus splash the cash this summer
Having missed Champions League qualification the previous campaign, AC Milan and Juventus flexed their financial muscles in the 2026 summer window. Milan led the spending charts with a net outlay of €165.05 million, though they also generated €87 million in sales.
The biggest single investment was the €74 million fee paid to Paris Saint‑Germain for Portuguese forward Gonçalo Ramos. The 25‑year‑old had struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at the Ligue 1 giants but has shown his potential for Milan.
Ramos scored at least ten goals in each of his three seasons in France – 14 in 2023/24, 18 in 2024/25 and 12 in 2025/26. He has already begun scoring for Milan and is expected to reach the 20‑goal mark once he settles into Serie A.
Diego Moreira and Mario Gila are other noteworthy additions to a Milan squad that appears capable of challenging for the title under manager Rúben Amorim. They could face stiff competition from Juventus, who invested €164.35 million this summer. Juventus have also made strategic loan acquisitions, strengthening both their defensive and attacking options, though the side still lacks a deep‑lying playmaker and a natural centre‑forward.
Juventus have made a solid start to the new season, securing clean‑sheet victories over Frosinone and Parma. Upcoming fixtures against Milan (home), Sassuolo (away) and Atalanta will provide a more accurate gauge of their title prospects.
Defending champions Inter have been busy in the summer window, spending €101 million to freshen their squad. The Premier League proved a fruitful hunting ground, with Djed Spence and Curtis Jones joining for a combined €60 million.
John Stones joined Inter on a free transfer from Manchester City and could prove to be the standout acquisition of the window. Stones helped City secure six Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, two FA Cups, five League Cups, the Club World Cup and a UEFA Super Cup.
He has won 93 caps for England and was a key member of the squad that finished third at the World Cup, starting the quarter‑final win over Norway and the semi‑final loss to Argentina.
Roma, who are in Serie A title contention after a strong start, completed one of the summer’s most eye‑catching deals by signing Portuguese talent Rodrigo Mora from Porto for €25 million. The total outlay for Roma this window amounted to €124.5 million.
Only half of his economic rights have been transferred, leaving Roma to potentially pay an additional €25 million to secure the remaining share. With a tactical system that favours his playing style, Mora should have ample opportunities to shine and could become a major hit in Serie A.
Fiorentina were the third‑largest spenders this summer, investing €150.30 million in new players. However, they have opened the season with two defeats.
