Milwaukee Brewers Extend Outfield Prospect Luis Lara to 7-Year, $31M Contract]
The Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to a seven-year, $31 million contract extension with outfield prospect Luis Lara, according to multiple reports Tuesday.
The deal with the 21-year-old Venezuelan player will begin this season and includes three club options that could extend the commitment through 2035.
The contract contains incentives that could increase the total value to $78 million if Lara reaches specified milestones, as reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Lara ranks as the No. 5 prospect in Milwaukee’s organization and No. 91 overall among all MLB clubs according to MLB Pipeline.
Through 56 games this season at Double-A Nashville, Lara is hitting .338/.447/.500 with seven home runs, 27 RBIs and 18 stolen bases.
The Brewers have previously demonstrated their commitment to young talent with long-term extensions, including outfielder Jackson Chourio in December 2023 and minor league shortstop Cooper Pratt in April.
