Some fan apparently forgot which team Mitchell Robinson now plays for.
Hours after scoring for the Celtics in their 107‑103 home win over the Knicks, the former Knicks big man shared an Instagram Story calling out a spectator who appeared to believe he still represented New York. “Why did a fan say we lost tonight?” Robinson said while wearing a pink Bass Prop Shop hoodie and seemingly in a car. “I think he still thinks I play for the Knicks, and I’m like, ‘You’re mistaken. He’s not a true fan.’”
Robinson laughed off the remarks, adding that he’s “out here in Boston having the time of my life” before dismissing the fan as “stupid.”
The center helped Boston rebound to 1‑1 after an opening‑day loss, finishing with four points, four rebounds and two assists in 22 minutes while registering a minus‑two rating.
This season marks Robinson’s first stint with a team other than the Knicks. He left the franchise for the rival Celtics, signing a three‑year, $47.4 million deal to become Boston’s starting center.
He had been the Knicks’ longest‑tenured player and capped his tenure with a championship last June. Despite not receiving a formal contract extension, Robinson expressed no hard feelings, saying, “Yeah. I was like, cool. There wasn’t bad blood behind it. Fresh start.”
He noted that joining Boston might have disappointed some Knicks fans, but he was unfazed. “That was the only thing that was kind of different was going to the rivals. But you know me, man. I like to troll,” Robinson said. “Nobody was happy with that move. But I was.”
Robinson received a standing ovation from his new supporters after blocking Karl‑Anthony Towns in the fourth quarter and later scoring on an alley‑oop to give the Celtics a 12‑point lead.
Robinson said it was “cool” to face his former team for the first time and that his years with the Knicks gave him insight into their strategies. “Still NBA, so playing against them guys, so I know all they plays and stuff like that,” he added. “Just a little battle.”
