MK Lazimi Urges Criminal Investigation of Vaturi Following Hamas Comparison Remarks]
MK Naama Lazimi (Democrats) has called on Attorney-General Gali Baharav Miara to launch an immediate criminal investigation into MK Nissim Vaturi (Likud) for alleged “serious incitement to violence.”
Vaturi sparked controversy during a Kol Barama radio interview when he suggested that Lazimi’s character would enable her to succeed in Hamas elections in the Gaza Strip. “That’s her character; she is unable to run in Israel,” he remarked.
When questioned further, Vaturi stated, “Anyone who harms the State of Israel from within is even worse than this. Our enemies are inside the state, inside our soft belly, inside the Knesset.”
Lazimi condemned the remarks as “blood libel and incitement to violence,” arguing that the deputy speaker’s comparisons to Hamas terrorism mark her as a target and create conditions for political violence.
“The coalition of lawlessness is attempting to act with terror, but their threats will not stop our public struggle,” she said, demanding that law enforcement intervene “before it is too late.”
In social media posts, Lazimi alleged that “Netanyahu and his people have put a target on my back,” adding that “The government of draft dodgers and failures is inviting the next political assassination. Our blood is on their hands.”
She expanded on these claims, stating the government’s actions began with a “politicized police force” and culminated with Vaturi’s comments, asserting that “It’s not me they’re trying to intimidate, but the entire liberal camp and everyone who opposes the government.”
Lazimi further criticized Likud, describing it as “a bankrupt mafia” that resorts to “incitement and violence against those the Israeli public wants to replace them.”
