Jacob Misiorowski delivered six scoreless innings to out duel National League Cy Young Award candidate Chris Sale, leading the Milwaukee Brewers to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Atlanta Braves on Friday.
Misiorowski (13-5) limited the Braves to four hits, issuing two walks while striking out six. Trevor Megill secured his 24th save of the season after navigating around a two-out single in the ninth inning.
William Contreras spearheaded the Milwaukee offense, going 4-for-4 with an RBI in a contest the Brewers won for the fifth time in their last six outings.
Atlanta’s Michael Harris II and Mauricio Dubon each collected two hits, but the Braves suffered their fourth loss in five games. Sale (12-9) was charged with two runs on eight hits over six innings, striking out six without walking a batter.
White Sox 6, Mets 4
Jake Rogers hit a dramatic two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning, while Miguel Vargas, Randal Grichuk, and Colson Montgomery blasted three consecutive homers in the sixth to propel host Chicago past New York.
Rogers connected off Jefry Yan (1-1) with two outs and a runner on third base. Grant Taylor (5-2) earned the win after handling a leadoff walk in the top of the ninth.
Brett Baty contributed two hits and two RBIs, and Marcus Semien added two hits for the Mets. New York starter Sean Manaea was in line for a shutout before surrendering three consecutive home runs in the sixth inning.
Yankees 3, Blue Jays 1
Spencer Jones launched a two-run homer in the second inning, carrying the New York Yankees to their fifth consecutive win with a victory over visiting Toronto.
Jones gave New York an early 2-0 lead with a drive off Spencer Arrighetti (7-6) that barely stayed fair inside the right-field foul pole. Yankees starter Cam Schlittler (11-6) tossed six innings, allowing one run on six hits to secure his first win since July 24.
Toronto’s Alejandro Kirk extended his hitting streak to 10 games with an RBI single in the fifth. Arrighetti was pulled after 3 1/3 innings, surrendering three runs on three hits.
Phillies 7, Cardinals 6 (10 innings)
Alec Bohm crushed a two-run triple in the 10th inning, leading host Philadelphia to a thrilling victory over St. Louis.
Bohm’s triple off Luis Gastelum (3-3) extended the Phillies’ season-high winning streak to seven games. Bohm, who also collected an RBI single, combined with Luis Arraez for three hits each, pushing Philadelphia to a season-best 13 games above .500.
Gastelum allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits in one inning of work. St. Louis’ Jordan Walker homered for the third consecutive game, finishing with three hits in the loss.
Dodgers 5, Pirates 4 (10 innings)
Tommy Edman delivered a game-ending RBI single in the 10th inning, lifting Los Angeles to a victory over Pittsburgh.
Max Muncy homered and Mookie Betts contributed a two-run single as the Dodgers stretched their winning streak to four games. Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed two runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings. Tragically, the Dodgers lost Andy Pages to a broken left hand after being hit by a pitch.
Nick Gonzales delivered two RBI singles, and Oneil Cruz hit a two-run homer for the Pirates. Bubba Chandler surrendered four runs on four hits over four innings. Gregory Soto (5-4) had Edman in an 0-2 count with two outs in the 10th before Los Angeles secured the win.
Rangers 2, Angels 1 (10 innings)
A 10th-inning throwing error by Denzer Guzman handed Texas a dramatic walk-off victory over the Angels in Arlington, Texas.
Guzman’s RBI double off Tyler Alexander (4-2) broke a scoreless tie in the top of the 10th, but Wyatt Langford answered with an RBI double in the bottom of the frame off Ben Joyce (0-1) to tie it. After an intentional walk, Guzman fielded Ezequiel Duran’s hard grounder at third but committed a throwing error trying to force the runner at second, allowing Langford to score the winning run.
Duran accounted for four of Texas’ 11 hits. Angels starter Reid Detmers threw six scoreless innings, allowing only six singles. Rangers starter MacKenzie Gore matched him with six shutout innings of his own.
Red Sox 6, Giants 4
Willson Contreras crushed a three-run home run to highlight a five-run third inning, and Wilyer Abreu went 3-for-4 with an RBI triple, leading Boston past San Francisco and spoiling Rafael Devers’ return to the city.
The Red Sox collected 11 hits, and Boston’s bullpen closed out the game by allowing only one baserunner over the final 5 1/3 innings. Sonny Gray (16-3) pitched six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, tying Philadelphia’s Cristopher Sanchez for the major league lead in wins.
San Francisco’s Drew Gilbert and Devers hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning. Devers, who spent the first eight-plus seasons of his career in Boston, finished 1-for-3 with a walk. Logan Webb (8-8) was tagged for five runs on six hits in 2 2/3 innings.

Ty France homered and drove in three runs, while Randy Vasquez pitched seven strong innings to lead San Diego past visiting Minnesota.
Vasquez (9-6) surrendered two runs on two hits. The complete game marked only the fourth time this year a San Diego starter has gone the distance, happening twice each for Vasquez and Michael King.
Twins starter Connor Prielipp (3-7) was charged with six runs in six innings. Kody Clemens’ fourth-inning triple accounted for both Minnesota runs, but the Twins managed only one other hit in the game.

Dylan Beavers homered for the third consecutive game, and Pete Alonso launched his 30th home run of the season, powering Baltimore past visiting Tampa Bay.
Alonso’s two-run shot broke a tie in the fifth inning, helping the Orioles end a four-game losing skid. Baltimore starter Trevor Rogers (9-8) threw seven innings of three-run ball, and Rico Garcia nailed down his sixth save with a perfect ninth.
Rays catcher Kenny Piper, playing in just his second career game, homered. Tampa Bay’s nine-game road winning streak was snapped, marking their sixth loss in eight games. Freddy Peralta (5-11) allowed five runs and seven hits over seven innings.

Noah Cameron threw five scoreless innings, and solo home runs from Kyle Isbel, Vinnie Pasquantino, and Carter Jensen propelled host Kansas City to its season-high sixth consecutive victory over Detroit.
Cameron (8-8) limited the Tigers to two singles, walking three but keeping them off the scoreboard. Isbel and Pasquantino each collected two hits and combined for three RBIs, fueling the Royals’ dominant 15-4 home stretch.
Kevin McGonigle led Detroit with two hits and an RBI, but the Tigers dropped their third straight game and sixth of their last seven. Starter Troy Melton (7-2) allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Leo Rivas delivered a walk-off RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning, lifting Seattle over visiting Chicago.
Cal Raleigh smashed a three-run homer to lead the Mariners, who won for the fourth time in six games. Seranthony Dominguez (5-3) tossed a scoreless top of the 10th to earn the win.
Alex Bregman homered twice, and Pete Crow-Armstrong and Ian Happ also went deep for the Cubs. Bregman’s ninth-inning solo shot off closer Andres Munoz tied the game at 5-5, but Ryan Zeferjahn (4-4) took the loss.
Guardians 9, Rockies 1
Petey Halpin and Patrick Bailey homered, and rookie Travis Bazzana matched his career high with four hits as Cleveland defeated Colorado in Denver.
Bailey also doubled, while Jo Adell and Nathaniel Lowe each contributed two hits for the Guardians. Cleveland’s bullpen, spearheaded by Tim Herrin (4-2), threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings.
Rockies starter Tanner Gordon (0-4) allowed five runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings. Colorado dropped the first four games of its six-game homestand.

Jordan Lawlar homered and matched career highs with three hits and three RBIs, powering Arizona to an early lead in a shutout victory over Cincinnati in Phoenix.
