SARGODHA: An angry mob vandalized the shop where eight-year-old Muntaha Zahra was killed on June 22.

The attackers destroyed the structure of the establishment, known as Hanif Kiryana Store. Videos circulating on social media show the group throwing merchandise onto the road and attempting to set the shop on fire.

Police have reportedly arrested several individuals involved in the attack after identifying them through CCTV footage.

District Police Officer Sohaib Ashraf assured the bereaved family that justice would be served, stating that their concerns regarding the investigation conducted by the police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) are being carefully addressed.

The CTD is currently interrogating three suspects. Meanwhile, the mother of Arslan—the primary suspect killed during a CTD encounter—has alleged that the actual culprits are the shop owners, claiming they manipulated Arslan’s confession to seek revenge against the victim’s father.

The DPO emphasized that the police, in collaboration with the CTD, are investigating all possible angles of the case. During a media briefing, he reaffirmed that anyone found involved in crimes against children would face strict legal action.
