Morgan Stanley has refreshed its closely watched Vintage Values list of top stock picks for the upcoming 12-month period, adding tech giant Alphabet and consumer staples leader Coca-Cola to the roster. The firm’s Vintage Values 2026 portfolio significantly outperformed the broader market, delivering a return of 32.12% compared to the S&P 500’s nearly 19% gain over the past year—a strong outperformance of 1,316 basis points.
To compile the Vintage Values 2027 list, Morgan Stanley’s strategists polled North America analysts for their top one-year buy-and-hold recommendations. From more than 50 initial names, the team narrowed the selection down to 15 high-conviction stocks. Michelle Weaver, the bank’s equity strategist, explained that the selection process integrates company fundamentals, quantitative analysis, macroeconomic exposure, industry positioning, valuation, and risk-reward dynamics.
In a notable shift, 12 of the 15 names on the 2027 list are entirely new. Only Amazon, McKesson, and Visa retain their spots from the previous year’s selection. The newly added names for 2027 include Alphabet, Apple, Coca-Cola, Dynatrace, Eli Lilly, Equinix, and Williams Companies.
The 2027 list maintains a strong bias toward quality, large-cap, and growth stocks, with 60% of the selected companies ranking in the top two quality tiers—higher than the 56% share seen in the S&P 500 index. Consequently, the firm notes that the 2027 roster is more expensive than the broad market on most valuation metrics. Weaver highlighted that the list features an ‘anti-momentum’ tilt, focusing on companies with robust bottom-up drivers rather than stocks that have simply performed well recently.
