Prosecutors have formally charged a woman with murder following the discovery of a young child’s remains at a residence on New South Wales’ Central Coast.
Authorities responded to the Wyong address after a 32‑year‑old woman turned herself in at the local police station on Saturday.
Officers attempted to interview the woman but were unable to do so.
The child’s body, believed to be that of a four‑year‑old boy, was discovered inside the home later that afternoon bearing severe injuries to his arms.
The victim has not yet been formally identified, though police believe the woman had a prior relationship with the child.
She was charged on Sunday with murder, specifically on domestic‑violence grounds, denied bail, and is scheduled to appear in court later that day.
Police remained at the scene on Sunday morning and announced they will investigate the incident with assistance from the homicide squad.
