MotoGP teams are preparing for the ninth round of the 2026 season at the historic Automotodrom Brno, a circuit renowned for its demanding layout and rich racing heritage.
After a week-long break following the Hungarian Grand Prix, Aprilia Racing is set to contest the ninth round of the 2026 season at the historic Automotodrom Brno, fielding Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martín.
Bezzecchi aims to move past the challenging Sunday in Hungary and return to fighting for podium positions, while Martín, fresh from a demanding Balaton Park weekend, arrives in Brno determined to showcase his potential on the Czech circuit.
Brno, a 5.4‑kilometre circuit with 14 turns—eight right-handers and six left-handers—rejoined the World Championship calendar in 2025. It has long been a favourite of Max Biaggi, who recorded four 250 cc wins, two 500 cc victories, a MotoGP win and four Superbike triumphs, three with Aprilia.
Bezzecchi said: “I am extremely pleased to be going to Brno. It is a fantastic track where riding the RS‑GP26 has a special flavour. I’m also extremely happy to see my team again. After the Sunday at Balaton, which was a bit rough on the entire team, I really want to embrace them all again and try to have a good weekend, having fun and working well.”
Martin added: “Brno is a track that I like, and it is also one of the most iconic circuits of the championship. I won’t be at 100% fitness, but I’ll definitely be there mentally, and I’ll try to make sure that this is the added value I need to have a good weekend. I’ve been training a lot over the past days, and I have been working with the team to prepare for the GP, so I can’t wait to get started.”
Following a one‑week break, the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team return to competition at the Automotodrom Brno for Round 9 of the MotoGP season, with Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins heading to the Czech Republic.
Quartararo, currently 15th in the championship, aims to improve his weekend performance. He previously finished seventh at Brno in 2019 and 2020, and captured fifth in the sprint and sixth in the race in 2025. Rins, currently 19th, is eager to rebound after a difficult Hungarian Grand Prix. He previously reached the Moto2 podium at Brno in 2015 (third) and 2016 (second), and his best MotoGP results there are fourth places in 2019 and 2020.
Brno has been a fixture on the racing calendar since 1930, beginning with a 29 km road circuit through the city and its environs. The Czech Grand Prix debuted in 1950, entered the World Championship from 1965 to 1982, and after a hiatus from 2021‑2024, returned in 2025, preserving its storied racing heritage.
Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP arrives at Brno seeking to build on the strong weekend achieved at Balaton. The Czech circuit, recently resurfaced for the 2025 return, offers a blend of high‑speed straights and technical sections that reward both corner speed and precision, while its elevation changes add an extra challenge.
The circuit presents a mixed layout that rewards corner speed and precision in its technical sectors, while also featuring long acceleration zones where top speed remains crucial. Recent resurfacing for the 2025 return means the new asphalt will be a key factor for all teams this weekend.
Jack Miller, who brings extensive experience of Brno from previous visits, is eager to continue his recent momentum, while Toprak Razgatlıoğlu is tackling the circuit for the first time on a MotoGP bike, viewing the weekend as an opportunity to learn and improve. Both riders are motivated by recent progress and expect a strong showing before the summer break.
Borsoi said: “Brno is a fantastic circuit and, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire MotoGP calendar. It’s a layout that challenges every aspect of the package and always produces interesting racing. Engine performance will remain an important factor here, particularly on some of the longer acceleration sections, but thanks to the progress we have made with the chassis and electronics we arrive in a much better position than we were at the beginning of the season. The most encouraging aspect is that over the last few races we have consistently moved closer to the points and reduced the gap to the riders fighting around the top ten. That trend is more important than any single result. Brno will be another useful benchmark to measure how much the package has improved compared to the start of the year. We know there is still work to do, but the direction Yamaha has taken is the right one and we are confident we can continue moving forward.”
Marc Márquez said: “The feelings in Hungary were incredible: a full result with pole, Sprint, and Sunday’s race. The layout of the Balaton circuit definitely favored us, a track that is not too physically demanding. Here in Brno, the situation will be different: it’s a beautiful track that I like a lot and where I have already won with Ducati in the past, but it’s also really tough and demanding. We will approach the weekend step by step, to find our 100% every single day”.
Bagnaia added: “We arrive in Brno in a positive moment, with three consecutive podiums that give us a great boost. I like the track very much; it has a fantastic layout, just like the Assen track which will host the next GP right after this weekend. These are two tracks that, by characteristics, are among my absolute favorites. I am convinced that I can make the most of the steps forward made with the Desmosedici GP on these two circuits; the goal is to confirm the good feelings and be consistent”.
