Muhammad Shahzad has eclipsed the previous fastest century mark for Pakistani batters in first‑class cricket. His innings surpassed Misbah‑ul‑Haq’s 56‑ball effort, which had stood as the national record since 2014 during the second Test against Australia in Abu Dhabi. That earlier achievement by Misbah had already matched Viv Richards’ historic fastest Test century. Brendon McCullum had briefly broken the record with a 54‑ball hundred in 2016 against Australia in Christchurch, but Shahzad’s recent innings now reclaims the quickest first‑class century by a Pakistani player.
